Every year, we round up some clients, friends, and ideas and hit Toronto Island to plan our next big thing.
Great ideas come from anywhere
At Thinking Cap, we value deeply the thoughts and opinions of our clients and employees. We always want to hear their ideas, feedback, and solutions, and we consider them very carefully in our planning. Their influence and thought leadership make up the backbone of our products, and they are the reason we come to work and do our best every day.
Off to camp we went
In 2008, Thinking Cap President Doug Wallace had an idea: let’s create an environment that encourages our employees and clients to speak their mind, where they can feel comfortable saying, “I wish your product could…” With that, Thinking Camp was born. So, every year, we hop on the ferry and head to a retired schoolhouse on Toronto Island where a classroom reserved for Thinking Camp smells of fresh coffee and baked goods.
Ideas start flowing
The room is already set up: one long table lined with chairs, blackboards ready, pens and notebooks piled. The setting is relaxed and promotes an easy flow of ideas. There is no formal seating and participants are free to sit where they please. Employees and clients sit side-by-side.
It starts with an initial presentation by Doug Wallace. Energetic and passionate about the industry, Dough sets the mood and writes down the topic for everyone to see: Thinking Cap products; where are they now? Where do we envision them going? How do we get there?
Clients and employees alike share what they would like to see. Ideas come from all directions and cover everything. No idea is left unconsidered, and all are appreciated.
This year, we’re hosting our tenth Thinking Camp. This free event has grown steadily each year. Attendees have come to treasure this event, and they know that they’ve been part of the roadmap development and contributed to something big. Do you want to be part of Thinking Camp? Join us!
And they keep coming back...
Spending time with the staff of Thinking Cap and the other users was invaluable to us as new clients, and first time LMS/Author users. We were able to hear where the company and solutions were headed and had an opportunity to discuss and truly influence the future. I truly appreciate how much power they are putting into our hands to self-service, and am really excited about the new innovations.
