High Availability

Thinking Cap® is written in the Object Oriented Language C#. This is a 3G Compiled Language. This means it runs faster than Interpreted Languages like Perl or PGP. Thinking Cap stores much of it's data in Native XML Data Types in Microsoft SQL Server 2005. The graphical interface of Thinking Cap is created in XSL with Ajax calls for data to reduce page load times to the minimum. From the ground up Thinking Cap is engineered for the Enterprise.

Clustering

Thinking Cap Learning Management System is built to be able to run across multiple servers all acting like one LMS. Thinking Cap can support the clustering of both the Application Server (IIS) and the database over multiple servers. The advantages of this approach are:

  1. High Availability - Your Learning Management System is always there even with drive failures, dead power supplies... anything.
  2. High Performance - Clustering allows the server with the most capacity at any given time to answer a user request. If one database is busy the application server goes to the next.
  3. High Expandability - Support any number of learners and add capacity as you need it.
  4. Simplify Maintenance - Rotate servers out of the cluster for maintenance and upgrades without interrupting anyone.
